In local communities, where real changes can be made with grassroots initiatives, it is the most important to create environmental conscious thinking. Competition for secondary school students 2012
The HEMPS announced a competition for secondary school students in Harghita county in the energy efficiency subject. Registration for the competition started on 29 October and will close on 4 November. The competition was addressed to the students at the secondary level (grades 9-12) and the prize is a solar system what will has been mounted to the school of the winning team.

Our main objectives are to promote the efficient use of energy, the use of renewable energy sources and implicitly to reduce environmental pollution.
Our duties are:
To follow the jurisdiction regarding energy and to inform all the involved actors.
To offer technical assistance to the local authorities in the energy field.
To make the population aware of the necessity of efficient use of energy
To promote renewable energy sources in the public as well as private sector
To create a database concerning the energy sources in Harghita county and the rate of consumption.
To elaborate a county level strategy in the field of energy.
To elaborate and implement pilot projects in Harghita county in energy field.
Our target group includes everyone who is interested in alternative energies, energy efficiency and sustainable development, ranging from elementary school children through to adult ages. We try to approach decision-makers, entrepreneurs and customers at the same time. We try to reach students with interactive workgroup activities, case study contests, while for the adults we organize seminars and conferences.
